Fiserv, Inc., a mortgage tech provider, said Friday that Richard K. Jones will join the company as executive vice president and its Chief Information Officer. Jones arrives at Fiserv after an 8 year stint as CIO at Countrywide Financial Corp., which agreed earlier in the day to merge with Bank of America after rumors of a pending bankruptcy had allegedly put the nation’s largest lender on the precipice of insolvency. “Richard’s proven experience leading technology in a world class financial services organization will bode very well for Fiserv,â€? said Jeffery Yabuki, president and CEO of Fiserv. “His vast experience and leadership skills should significantly enhance the execution of our Fiserv 2.0 strategies. We are very pleased to have Richard on the team.â€? Jones’ departure from Countrywide raises an interesting question: what will become of many senior executives at the company, now that they’ll soon be part of Bank of America? Apparently, at least some execs aren’t waiting to find out.
