Consumer Spending Drives Up Mortgage Rates
Dec 28, 2006Mortgage rates moved higher for the third consecutive week, following strong consumer spending figures for November. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage is now 6.23 percent. According to Bankrate.com’s weekly national survey of large lenders, the 30-year fixed rate mortgages had an average of 0.25 discount and origination points.
