Managing money and motherhood with Ashlee Weaver
This week’s episode of Girlfunds features Ashlee Weaver, a photographer, entrepreneur and mom. We highlight that Ashlee is a mom because during the episode, Ashlee shares why she is passionate about managing money and motherhood . From there, Ashlee shares how she created a percentage-based income budgeting journal to help her family take control of their finances.
During the episode, Ashlee not only talks about making money to be a mom, but how she created a budgeting journal, Cast & Copper, for people with percentage-based incomes. She also talks about why she thinks we don’t talk about money enough with our friends or with our significant other.
Girlfunds’ takeaway tip from Ashlee Weaver on managing money and motherhood :
I do realize I have an instinct for making money. I really love to make money, not because I love money but I feel like it gives me more time. The more money I can make gives me more time with my children and that’s important to me right now. The saving and investing did not come as naturally to me as the making the money part though. And so, that’s something that we didn’t really learn until our mid 20s.
When I had my daughter, I was like, ‘I’m not taking her to childcare. I am going to make this photography business work.’ That’s definitely what catapulted me into [fully pursuing my photography business]. It was definitely like well this is gonna work or it’s not. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. But, it worked out and every year I’ve increased my income.
