Here’s a small preview of today’s interview. The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:
Tracey Velt: It’s been a couple years since you were in leadership for another company, and now you’re leading SERHANT. as their president. So tell me a little bit about what attracted you to the firm.
Josh Team: I actually had a health scare when I left Keller. I went into cardiac arrest and was in a coma for about a month. I had to learn how to read and write again and walk again and do all that kind of stuff. And there was a real question that I was having internally with my family, like, what is this going to look like? And so that got me back into testing my abilities and working with people. About that same time, SERHANT. reached out with some ambitious plans and said they’re looking for a leader to spearhead those plans.
We started having conversations. I was deciding what my next phase was going to be. I was looking at the industry and talking to more of the traditional players, as well. I believe firmly that we’re going through a changing of the guard over the next five years in real estate. There’s new value being created and Ryan’s (SERHANT.’s founder) vision around that and what they’ve been doing was exciting. I wanted to join a team and contribute to that mission. It’s an exciting challenge.
