Jason Stenger has joined Rate as chief production officer, just weeks after stepping down as chief operations officer at Movement Mortgage.
In his new role, Stenger will “lead production strategy, strengthen originator support, and continue scaling national growth,” Rate said in a statement on Tuesday. He will oversee Rate’s retail platform and its technology systems, including Rate Digital Mortgage for loan applications and PowerVP for pipeline management.
In a statement, Rate CEO Victor Ciardelli called Stenger a “strategic addition” who “knows how to support loan officers to be their absolute best and optimize their potential and production.” Rate president Shant Banosian added that Stenger is a “super star that has the mindset of a producer — gritty, driven and focused on winning.”
Stenger spent more than a decade at Movement Mortgage, the 25th-largest U.S. mortgage lender in the first half of the year, according to Inside Mortgage Finance (IMF). The company originated $9.3 billion in volume from January to June, down 7% year over year.
At Movement, Stenger helped scale operations and retail performance, overseeing $130 billion in production over the past five years, Rate said in a statement.
After his departure earlier this month, Movement named Lyra Waggoner as COO and Anna Benz as chief fulfillment officer, reporting to Waggoner. The company also recently announced that it has completed a three-year overhaul of its technology systems, culminating in the launch of its new loan origination system, MORE LOS.
“Rate’s technology, talent, innovation and momentum are unmatched,” Stenger said in a statement. “This company is defining what the future of mortgage lending looks like, period. I’m honored to join Victor, Shant, and the team of the best LOs in the industry, and I’m ready to help elevate Rate and our producers to new levels of success.”
Rate ranked as the ninth-largest U.S. mortgage lender in the first half of 2025, with $20.2 billion in originations, up 14% year over year, per IMF. Headquartered in Chicago, the company operates more than 850 branches across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
