Today, we’re announcing some important changes to HousingWire Magazine—changes that have been a long time coming, and something we’re very excited about here at HW.
In a nutshell: we’re now offering digital magazine subscription for HousingWire Magazine. As a result, we’ve taken steps to limit online access to HousingWire Magazine just to our paid subscribers. And, just in case you’re wondering: yes, I do enthusiastically encourage you to subscribe, if you don’t already!
A print-only or digital-only subscription to HousingWire Magazine costs $99/year, or you can get both print and digital access for $149/year, prices that are extremely competitive given the markets we serve and the value of the information we provide.
Existing HousingWire Magazine subscribers will be grandfathered into a print+digital subscription for the remainder of their current subscription term, as our way of saying “thank you!” for your support.
What’s changing, and what’s not
This change does not in any way affect our daily newswire content online, as our online daily news remains free — as do our range of industry-leading email newsletters, including HW Intel (we launched HW Intel recently: learn more here, if you missed that).
When we launched our new website in February 2012, one of the innovations we also launched (quietly) was complete online access to our magazine: both in terms of issue highlights directly on the HousingWire.com website, as well as complete archives of the entire magazine via HW AllAccess in our unique, custom e-reader format.
Our e-reader, by the way, allows you to easily read the magazine seamlessly no matter what digital device you’re using: whether laptop, desktop, tablet, even smart phone. All you need is your HousingWire.com login and a digital subscription, no matter what device you use; just visit magazine.housingwire.com, and you can read the latest issue anywhere, anytime.
Developing device-independent access to our award-winning magazine content has been something we’ve worked very hard on for most of 2012. We wanted to get it right, and we think we’ve done that.
Since February, our digital magazine archive at HW AllAccess has grown dramatically, and now features more than two years’ worth of magazine content: it’s an amazing resource for industry professionals looking to make sure they know where the industry is headed, as well as where it’s been.
Why offer digital subscription options?
The reason for digital magazine subscriptions is simple: digital magazine readership is soaring. Plain and simple.
In fact, a recent major survey found that digital-only magazine readership is up nearly 50 percent this year alone. The trends for developing a digital audience are simply too compelling for any publisher to ignore: and that’s why we moved our magazine online this past February, and it’s why today we’re offering digital-only subscription options.
But beyond simply building a platform for digital magazine access, during the past two years HousingWire Magazine has also been busy racking up an impressive array of awards for incredible journalism.
From recognition as “Best in Business” at the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, to national Gold and Silver awards from the American Society of Business Press Editors, to a National Gold Award in the FOLIO:Eddie Awards for editorial excellence—no other industry publication has won more awards for editorial excellence in the past three years.
That’s the sort of top-shelf expertise HousingWire Magazine subscibers will be able to count on each month, every month.
I invite you to join us and subscribe today: this week only, we’re offering 25% off our subscription rates for new subscribers, whether you choose digital, print or digital+print subscription options.
