Blend Labs Inc. on Wednesday introduced Intelligent Origination, an AI-driven system designed to streamline the lending process by embedding automation and analytics throughout its digital origination platform.
The company said the system integrates artificial intelligence into each stage of origination to interpret data and documents, perform complex tasks autonomously and learn from outcomes. Each feature functions as a reusable component, allowing improvements in one process, such as document review or data validation, to be applied across others.
The platform also includes explainability and audit features to ensure transparency.
“Lenders don’t need more tools; they need systems that execute,” said Nima Ghamsari, Blend’s co-founder and head. “For too long, automation in lending has been exception-based — flagging problems for humans to fix. Intelligent Origination replaces that model with oversight-driven origination, where technology executes with precision and human expertise provides targeted oversight.”
Blend said the first phase will focus on back-office tasks with the highest potential for automation, including document processing, follow-up workflows, and pre-funding quality control.
Future phases, beginning in 2026, are expected to extend into fraud detection, income and asset verification, loan officer tools and borrower communication across mortgage, home equity, consumer lending, and deposits.
