Property management platform BuildingLink taps Zachary Kestenbaum to replace father as CEO

Jerry Kestenbaum will focus on smart home efforts

It’s a true family affair for property management platform BuildingLink, as the company announced this week that the company’s executive vice president of sales, Zachary Kestenbaum, is being elevated to CEO.

Kestenbaum replaces his father, Jerry Kestenbaum, who founded the company 19 years ago and has led it ever since.

The younger Kestenbaum takes over as CEO after spending the last nine years with the company and helping oversee significant growth.

According to the company, the younger Kestenbaum (pictured below) has been “instrumental” in the company’s operations in the last several years, guiding the company’s product vision and strategy, and delivering a partner integration ecosystem that now includes dozens of software and hardware providers.

“It has been a real privilege to work with Zach in growing the company over the past nine years he's been here, expanding from 950 properties in eight states to over 4,500 properties in 35 states and 33 countries, and in eight languages today,” Jerry Kestenbaum said of his son.

“He is extraordinarily well-prepared to take over as CEO; his impressive technological prowess and seasoned people skills are exactly the ingredients for sustained growth,” Kestenbaum continued. “He brings a generationally relevant intuition about the needs of millennials, baby boomers, and generations in-between.”

Moving forward, the elder Kestenbaum will focus on the company’s “Aware by BuildingLink” program, working to develop innovative solutions in areas across IoT and sensor solutions, smart home, machine learning, and data analytics and visualization.

“I’m excited to take on the challenge of leading this most innovative company that is built on the talent of exceptional people and inspired by a celebrated tradition of creativity,” the younger Kestenbaum said.

“I’m very thankful to my father, Jerry, for the tremendous vision and perseverance with which he transformed the residential real estate management industry over the last 19 years,” Kestenbaum continued. “He has taught me so much by example, and I hope to continue his trailblazing ways. I am incredibly excited to assume this new role and for the future of BuildingLink!”
