Bank of America to consolidate North Texas mortgage operations

Closing down former Countrywide location in Ft. Worth

Another one of the vestiges of Countrywide’s past is about to disappear, as Bank of America is set to close and sell a facility in Ft. Worth, Texas that once housed as many as 3,000 Countrywide employees.

The closure of the the 395,000-square-foot facility on Beach Street is part of Bank of America’s effort to consolidate some of its banking and mortgage operations in the North Texas area, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.

But the consolidation will not lead to any job cuts, according the Dallas Morning News report.

From the Dallas Morning News:

Bank of America said workers in the Beach Street building will be moved to its campus in far east Fort Worth, at 4200 and 4500 Amon Carter Blvd., in the second or third quarter of this year. The company declined to say how many workers are being affected but said no job cuts are tied to the move.

In a statement, Bank of America said the decision to consolidate is “in keeping with the bank’s approach to manage our real estate portfolio as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
