Move, a News Corp subsidiary and realtor.com operator, announced today the appointment of its first-ever chief data officer.
Vineet Singh will focus realtor.com’s data science and engineering on innovation to make it easier on consumers.
Singh brings to the company over 25 years of experience in data mining, research and analytics at technology companies such as Intuit, HP, Hitachi and IBM. In his new position, he will report to chief technology officer Suhail Ansari.
"This new role underscores the vital importance of economic and consumer data to the online real estate industry,” Ansari said. “In addition to supplementing our comprehensive and accurate listing information with better market data, a focus on data science and engineering also enables us to drive a much more compelling and personalized user experience."

Previously, Singh spent seven years at Intuit in various roles where he oversaw the company’s data science, data engineering, new business innovations and web research and analytics. Before Intuit, he worked at HP for eight years, where he led data teams in research, engineering and services.
As the chief scientist of the Hitachi Information Technology Lab, Singh led a team of data scientists who collaborated with faculty at Stanford and MIT and filed numerous patents.
In fact, Singh has been awarded 10 patents. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology, his master degree in computer science from MIT and his Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from Stanford University.
