Homeless veterans in the Milwaukee area could soon be getting a place to stay in the city’s historic Soldiers Home District thanks to a new plan by the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to an article by Fox News.
The department has asked developers to propose plans to renovate the buildings for veterans who are homeless or may soon be homeless, the article stated.

These historic buildings were originally constructed during the Civil War and were intended to give veterans a place to stay and adjust to life after the war, according to the article.
Other organizations, including Carrington Mortgage Services, have also recently stepped out to help veterans with their housing situations.
