The city of Worcester, Mass., is standing firm on its original decision not to establish a mandatory mediation program for foreclosures involving local owner-occupied homes. Per the Worcester Telegram & Gazette:
City Manager Michael O'Brien said while foreclosures remain a troubling issue in Worcester, he does not believe the city is in a position at this time to legally or financially adopt or implement a local foreclosure mediation program.
He said he also does not believe that a local program would accomplish the aims of the various partners to protect residents from the possibility of predatory foreclosures.
